How do you pronounce your name? My family says "Shmeeder" or with my dad's Wisconsin "accent" sometimes says "Smeeder" My understanding of German pronunciation with EI and IE is that the long sound of the second vowel is heard. So IE is "ee" and EI is "eye". Regardless, how families spell their names and pronounce them is up to them.
