Mrs. Chester Schermerhorn

Mrs. Chester Schermerhorn 84, died May 31, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Bush, Route 5 Sparta.
Born in Ridgeville December 20, 1855 Mrs. Schermerhorn was the daughter of David and Harriet Woodliff. She was married to Chester Schermerhorn October 10, 1872. They had eight children of whom three daughters survive. Mrs. Fred Bush, Mrs. Herman Dickler of Clifton and Mrs. William Kroll of Sparta, Her husband died November 20, 1902 and five of her children also preceded their mother death- Mrs. Levi Rathburn of Sparta, Louisa Schermerhorn two other daughters who died in infancy and a son John Schermerhorn.
Besides three daughters she leaves nine grandchildren, seventeen great- grandchildren, three brothers, Fred and Austin Woodliff of Norwalk and Alfred Woodliff of Sparta; a sister Sarah Dearborn of Spooner, several nieces and nephews, among other relatives.
For the past several years Mrs. Schermerhorn made her home with her daughter. Funeral services were held from the farm home of Fred Bush in the town of Wells on Monday afternoon, June 3, at one o’clock and from Lanham’s Mortuary at 1:30. Rev. A. E. Frederick officiating, Burial was made at Farmers Valley Cemetery.
