DILLON — Mrs. Mayola Hayes Townsend, 68, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at her
residence after an illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at Bear Swamp Baptist
Church, Lake View. Burial will be at Lake View Perpetual Cemetery, directed
by Cook Funeral Home of Lake View. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8
p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Townsend was born Jan. 19, 1939, the daughter of the late Edgar and May
Belle Page Hayes. She was a member of Bear Swamp Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Timothy Townsend, Mark Townsend, Michael Townsend
and William (Cathy) Townsend, all of Dillon; three daughters, Carolyn Brown of
Fayetteville, N.C., Lori Cook of Dillon and Brenda (Danny) Nobles of Lake
View; a special grandson, Ken Wayne Townsend of Dillon; a brother, Layton Hayes
of Lake View; sisters, Lillian (Hal) Cook and Evolene Stroud of Lake View
and Ezzie Mae Cook of Nichols. She was blessed with many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph T. Townsend and brothers, Cleaburn
Hayes, J.B. Hayes and Edward Hayes.
Gone but never forgotten and always loved.
