I have in my possession two letters from a woman named Susan who lived on Edisto Island. (She is no relation to my family, the letters were bought in a box lot many years ago.) The letters are to her Aunt Nancy Davis in Madison, Georgia. These are extremely interesting letters and I would like to identify the writer. She refers to her husband as Mr. E. She mentions her youngest child Rosa but refers to "the other children" also. I have checked the 1850 census for Edisto but the only "E" family is Edings (Eddings) and there is no Susan or Rosa listed. One of the letters says "my husband has talked of moving up to Charleston in the Spring"........so perhaps they did move on. Would appreciate any help or advice in this matter.
