Hello Glen,
Thank you for your update and info regarding the Salley family.
Last evening I spent time again going over HORACE B. SALLEY'S Pension Records. I am not certain what you have read from my other postings........
He enlisted in the Maine 4th Battery Vol. Light Artillery in 1861. Someset Co., Maine and enrolled in 1862 Palmya, ME.
He enlisted as SALLEY but during the War and in and out of hospitals.....an I was added becoming SAILLEY. As I mentioned we have so many documents of his accounts and some of the soldiers who served with him as he was seeking an Invalid Pension, which his wife, Mary Nolan Salley was able to get for him, after his death, Pittsburgh, PA., yr. 1904.
He lived in Altoona, Pa and later moved to Pittsburgh. I am still trying to find where he is buried as I do want to make certain it has a Civil War marking on it. We have found his wife's grave and children's. The death certificate listed where he was buried but the cemetry has no record of him. It maybe in a Soldier's grave.
Thank you for sharing the information......we greatly appreciate it. My Aunt, my Mother's sister, is a Sailley (Salley) and is so very interested in my latest updates of our family.
So happy you visited the cemetry. Do you know who owns the Fuller Corner Cemetry? A church???
A Rosemary Williston had a posting sometime ago and shared some wonderful information with me. One Horace B. married a Laura E. Ewer in Dover, Me 1888, so that is not my Horace. She said there was an Isaac and Martha from Embden and then Isaac and Marth from Palymra. She shared the 1850 census:
Isaac Salley 51yrs.
Martha 43
John D. 20
Lafayette 17Hiram 15
Charles 11
William S. 9
Horace B. 6
Mary 22
Martha 3
Rosemary also sent some pages from the book entitled,
Embden Town of Yore. Let me know if you would like me to send copies of the pages she sent me from that source.
Take care...I am still confused as ever, but will not give up!!!
Best Wishes,
Mrs. D'nis Lynch
