I can take my "RYTERs" back to John RUTTER/RITTER "RYTER" (ropemaker) born about 1787 in Pennsylvania. Most likely Philadelphia. He was married to a Sarah and can be found living in the Southwark section of Philadelphia in the 1850 census. In 1860 and 1870 he is living with my ggg grandparents George and Emma "RYTER" and family. George was born about 1830 in Philadelphia. George had a sister Anna born about 1835 who married a George CROMLEY/CRUMLEY/CROWLEY?

Other "RYTER" branches that definitely connect but I can not find the common ancestor...

John RITTER (ropemaker) born about 1790 in PA married to a Mary had a son Mathias (ropemaker) "RYTER" born about 1825 in Philadelphia died February 25, 1895 in Camden, NJ. Mathias was married to Mary Ann VANCE born about 1826 in Ireland died April 13, 1880 in Camden, NJ.

These brothers are possibly Mathias RITTER's brothers but still definitely connect to my RUTTERs...

John RUTTER, born about 1821 PA, married to Margaret GOUGH born about 1824 in PA. Lived in the Southwark section of Philadelphia.

Joseph RUTTER born about 1826 in PA married to an Emma. Found in Southwark section of Philadelphia.

Bishop RUTTER, born about 1828 in PA. Lived in Philadelphia and Camden, NJ.

The names Callender and Jeremiah run in this branch. The name Callender comes from John RUTTER's (born 1826) good friend John CALLENDER.

I hope that someone out there can make a connection!!

Happy Hunting!
Ella
