Jeremiah M. Taylor, the son of Grove C. Taylor and Betsey Winslow and the father of Lydia Abia Taylor, was born at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut, September 4, 1811, married Amanda Isabel Presler ca. 1830-34 and died near Weston, Wood County, Ohio, March 31, 1890. He moved from Connecticut to New York, ca. 1827, remaining there until ca. 1866, when he moved to Ohio. We do not know if he married in Connecticut or New York, but favor New York.

Jeremiah Taylor should be in New York in 1830, but we have not located him there yet. He may not be married and still living with his father and mother. Presently, the best place to look is in Jefferson County, New York. We are relatively sure Jeremiah Taylor is in Jefferson County in 1834, for their first child, Sylvester J. Taylor was born there in 1834. Jeremiah M. Taylor died March 31, 1890 in Weston, Wood County, Ohio. I have not located his place of burial, but his wife was buried at Plain Cemetery a little over a year earlier. He may not have a marker.

In 1840, Jeremiah M. Taylor is found in Ellisburgh, Jefferson County, New York. There is an Abi Presler living next door which is of interest, but we have no connection as of this time. The federal census record taken in 1840, for Ellisburg, Jefferson County, New York, shows the following on roll 93, page 159: Jeremiah Taylor, born between 1800 and 1810, with wife born between 1810 and 1820 with a son born 1835 to 1840; and two daughters born 1830 to 1840.

Jeremiah Taylor moved his family to Sandy Creek bt. 1834 and 1836 and located in the North-east corner of the tenth township of Oswego County, New York. Jeremiah Taylor's daughter, Lydia Abia Taylor married Amasa White. Next, we find Jeremiah Taylor in the 1845 Sandy Creek, Oswego County, New York census.
