|=======================================================|
| Welcome to: The 'csoftec' Mail Archive Server |
|=======================================================|

The 'csoftec' mail archive server is a service which allows requests for files
to be sent by mail and serviced automatically.

PURPOSE: To make files available via regular mail in the following 'areas'.

utilities - Those which will work on a 386/286 Xenix
dosfiles - Just a few files which I feel are very useful.
genealogy - Archive most any files which are associated with genealogy.

To request this help message and the current index: send a message
to csoftec!listserv with the text:

send help to youraddress

To request the current index, send a message to csoftec!listserv with the text:

send index to youraddress

To request a specific file, send text:

send file to youraddress

Case of requests is unimportant, and incorrect requests will be quietly ignored.
^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^ ^^^^ ^^ ^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^
Multiple files may be requested in a single message, one per line:

send file1 to youraddress
send file2 to youraddress
send file3 to youraddress

The YOURADDRESS may be in the form relay!node!user, specifying a path
directly from csoftec, or in the form .

Examples:
send index to systemid!username
^ ^
| |_____________ address
|______________________ master index

send areas to systemid!username
^ ^
| |_____________ address
|______________________ list of areas

send utilities/index to systemid!username
^ ^ ^
| | |_ address, starting from a node in the maps
| |__________ index of this area only
|____________________ area of interest

send utilities/shar2 to
^ ^ ^
| | |___ address
| |____________ filename
|______________________ area from the list of areas

Master and area indices:

The name of the master index of everything is "index" as shown in the
1st example. The index of any one area is "<area>/index". If you want just
the list of areas, the name to request is "areas".

Summary of index names:

Nameindex to
================
indexeverything
areasjust what areas are available
<area>/indexwhat's in the area

Distribution:

Is by mail in less than 100k messages, shar format. In order to avoid
bottlenecking, files will be mailed to an individual addressee at the
rate of one file every four hours. If the particular package you ask for
is, say 6 parts, they will all be mailed within 24 hours. You will receive
a schedule of when your files will be released by return mail immediately.
Requests for help, indices and areas are also queued immediately.

To reconstruct the original data you will need the /bin/sh program,
or the unshar program (available in the utilities area). If the original
file was binary you will also need the uudecode program (available in the
utilities area). Also, some files are compressed. Compress is a standard
UNIX program, distributed with news, xwindows and the like (also available
in the utilities area).

Send messages that need to be read by a human to csoftec!listadm.

with genealogy. These may be in text, zip, or
uuencoded format.

We will be storing Tiny Tafel (name.tt) files for
any surname wishing to send them to:
