Sarah "Sally" Oakes was my great-great grandmother, dau. of John D. Oakes & Mary Ann "Polly" Romans. Sarah b. 27 Sept. 1826 d. 17 June 1880. Married 1st: James Logan DeSpain, 2nd: Hatton Price. Buried: Pleasant Grove Cem. LaRue Co., KY.
I have photocopy of a note John D. Oakes wrote out and signed giving Sarah permission to marry James, witnessed by Calloway Underwood. Also have photocopy of a typed transcript copy of Daniel Oaks/Oakes Will from Chester Co., SC., father of John David. Would be glad to share the info I have. I've never seen the 1956 news clipping about Jacob's descendants.
