Fifth Generation
Lemuel Rogers b 19 Apr 1765, Horton, NS, son of Stephen Rogers and Lucretia Baker married Eunice Bennett b 20 May 1769 Horton, NS, daughter of Zadoc Bennett and Mercy Hackett. Lemuel died 30 Mar 1795. Eunice m (2) 7 Nov 1796 Timothy Thorpe.
Children, all born at Gaspereau:
i James Rogers b 16 Jun 1788
ii Daniel Rogers b abt 1789
iii Lemuel Rogers b abt 1791
iv Silas Rogers b abt 1793
v Eunice Rogers b abt 1794
Source: Dean Rogers research.
Lemuel's wife, Eunice, second husband, Timothy Thorpe and father-in-law, Stephen Rogers were granted administration of the estate of Lemuel Rogers on 1 Dec 1796. Source: Kentville Probate Court records. (Philip P Thorpe).
Eunice's witnessing of the subsequent land transactions, lead to her identification as the mother of five children and not just older child, James. Of these five children, marriage records have been found for all but Silas. Of these four marriages, only records are found of James and Lemuel, having children. So in the fourth generation, 2/3 of the family history is lost and in this fifth generation 60% of the family history also remains unidentified. Did #ii, Daniel Rogers and #v, Eunice Rogers (Bennett) move to other provinces, PEI or NB?
We invite your comment and thoughts as to the missing records of these children. Thank you,
Eric
