My Roberts came to the U.S. from Wendron and Stithian, Cornwall in the mid
1800's. They first settled in Scales Mound, Illinois (near Galena). My
great great grandfather William Roberts married Ann Pryor in 1812 in Wendron.
Their children included: William, John, Ann, Thomas, Joseph, Josiah, Henry,
Mary, Grace Angelina and Charles Edwin (b.1841 in Stithians). Those who came
to the U.S. included the above John (Jonathan), Ann Martin Opie (settled in
Gratiot), Joseph (settled in Apple River, WI), Josiah (went to California),
Henry (settled in Jo Daviess County, IL), Mary Odgers, (settled in White Oak
Springs, WI), Angelina and Charles Edwin, my great grandfather (settled in
California).
