Mary Ellen RHEA McKELVEY, Pat, & List:
The ancestry of Anna Elizabeth RHEA (also recorded as Ann Eliza RHEA)
was as follows: Her paternal great-great-grandparents were Archibald
and (?) RHEA; her great-grandparents were Robert and Sarah (BINGHAM)
RHEA [Robert was the brother of William and Archibald RHEA whose
immediate descendants are well documented]; her grandparents were
Archibald and Margaret (?) RHEA, and her parents were Archibald and
Catherine (SEVIER, CAMPBELL) RHEA. Her siblings were as listed by Mary
Ellen. Catherine was the daughter of John SEVIER, the first governor of
Tennessee. Anna's brother, John W. was named after General James WHITE,
the founder of Knoxville, TN. He had been a neighbor of her
grandparents on Cripple Creek in Montgomery (now Wythe) County, VA.
There is some speculation that General James WHITE was related to the
family, possibly through her grandmother, Margaret RHEA.
Sincerely,
Robert Perry RHEA
