I found an Austin Web site that had several austin lines traced back to
two or three progenitors in VA. I keep horrible records so I don't know
the site. Martha's ancestor was maybe John A Austin 1720 VA m. Mary
Maybee 7 children,
Stephen Austin, Halifax Co. VA (1755-1850) m. Dorcas Sanders Pinson 6
children,
William Austin VA, 1777 m. Rebecca Moses Mercer
Martha Vianna Austin KY (1801-1858) was their daughter. Siblings Mahala
A , Thomas, Virna,

Virna Austin married Thomas J Macon
Sophtonia Macon m. Clinton Joyce
Margaret Maybelle Joyce m. William Tell Rhea
So my Joyce line connects to the Rhea line thru the Austins
I found a note somewhere that Sophronia was orphaned and went to live
with Aunt Martha Rhea. So Virna's granddaughter married Martha's
grandson.

I also was told the rumor of the Moses/Stephen connection. I have read
a Moses Austin biograpy. They trace his lineage back to another of the
c.1700 progenitors. Stephen had no children. I think they might have
known they were kin or thought they were because some of them came to
Texas early. but they were not among Stephen's first settlers
