So far there has been no convincing evidence as to his parents. John
and Sally Rhea of Lincoln Co., TN were not the parents, their son
Pleasant Vincent Rhea was born circa 1803 and died 1864, he is buried
in Washington or Benton Co., Arkansas where he moved about 1829.
One of his descendants once told me that our PV Rhea (1821-1901) was
the son of a Joseph McIlwaine Rhea and Frances Jackson. Other than this
one anecdote I have found no evidence to support this descent (or even
a marriage between Joseph McIlwaine Rhea and Frances Jackson). This
Joseph McIlwaine Rhea was supposed to have been the son of Elizabeth
Rhea and Robert Rhea. This doesn't seem to fit any available evidence.
For the time being this Pleasant Vincent Rhea still doesn't seem to
have any viable parents and I've looked since 1979.
There was a Joseph Rhea listed in the 1820 Lincoln Co., Tennessee
census. I was not able to trace him positively after that. A Joseph
Rhea did live in Giles Co. (next to Lincoln Co.). This was Joseph
Campbell Rhea, son of William Rhea and Elizabeth Breden as far as I can
tell.
I welcome any new info on these lines or corrections.
thanks
