This is mostly third hand info with a few backups based on Benton Co Mo vital
stats. The third hand part first. The Rhea family party had all started out
for Oregon from TN. They spent a bad winter in Fort Scott Bourbon Co Ks. Some
of the Rhea party continued on to Oregon but James Rhea (dob 1799?) with his
wife Elizabeth Tipton and daugher Nancy Rhea Boring with young children and
maybe other family members turned back to Benton Co Mo where Elizabeth Tipton
Rhea had relatives. So the reason to go to Benton Co may have been Tipton
relatives. I am not sure on the dates that they arrived in Benton Co but
should have been before 1858.I think I saw other census info but for sure by
the 1880 census Nancy Rhea Boring Sturges was once again a widow. Her death
and burial 1883 is also in the Benton Co vital stats. James Rhea her father
may have died in Jasper Co Mo. Date unknown. Elizabeth Tipton Rhea may have
married for a second time after James death. Thats all I can recall right now.
