Subject: [RHEA] Have you all found all your connections? (W. H. RAY B. CA 1820 AL?)

Indeed, I haven't found even William Henry RAY's ancestors. William Henry is
my husband's ggrandfather, and one would think that is not so far back in
time that nothing can be found about him. But that is the way it is.
According to oral family history, William Henry RAY was b. ca. 1820-22 in
Huntsville, AL (Madison County). When WHR was very young, his father died,
and his mother re-married. Then shortly thereafter, his mother died, and his
step-father re-married; thus, WHR had both a step mother and a step father.
The story is that his step father beat him; and after one such beating WHR
ran away from home to MS where in 1837 he married Jane Vining in Wilkinson
County. He d. ca. 1845.
We do not know names of his parents; nor do we know if he had siblings. Any
help would be very much appreciated.
Helen
