If they were married in Jackson Co Mo, I would contact that county for the marriage certificate. That would list Amanda's maiden name. If you know where he died then I would get his death cert. and then get the funeral home jacket file. The death cert. will list the funeral home or at least the undertaker

mo.1836 ? Father from Ky mother In Tenn. His wife Amanda F. 41 Born in Mo. Father in ky 7 mother In ky.I found him in the 1870 census but name spelled Ray, Jackson co.page 179 or 211 .If I
could find her maiden name it might help some.Do you think that if I went to the court houses involved they would help me while I was there.Sorry to bother you so much on this matter but I am
not making any progress at all. Maby some on else has some info
