records in the North Carolina Archives show Charles Morgan joined the
Continental Army in May, 1776 for a period of 2 1/2 years as a Private in the
10th N. C. Regt, Blount's
Company Additional records show Charles Morgan as a Corp., in the N.C. 5th
Regt., William's Company, with a
reference to "See Blount's Co.", and the same 2 1/2 years enlistment and same
discharge date of October 25, 1778 The North Carolina 5th and 10th Regts were
adopted into the Main Continental Army in 1777 and and saw
service in Valley Forge, PA in 1778. Records of The United States of America
to the State of North Carolina.. for cash paid by Jacob Blount,
Paymaster, 1776 - 1778 list Charles Morgan, soldier Accounting of allowances
made to Officers and Soldiers of the Late Continental Line of the State of
North
Carolina made at Hillsborough, N.C. May 1892.. list Charles Morgan, Sergeant,
for pay from 1st January 1777 to 25, October 1778. Final Accounting records
from the United States to the State of North Carolina for arrearges of pay
for service prior to the day of January 1782 made at Halifax in 1783, 84 & 85
