Thank you Pat for this information. I am fortunate to have in my possession
letters of my ggg grandmother Sarah M. Montgomery Thatcher who raised six
children in early Texas. She writes about the importance of schooling and
became quite upset with her husband who wanted to keep his daughter at home
rather than going away to school. I read of some of her medical remedies ;
) etc.
