I'm looking at a little book titled Virginia Publick Claims for
Rockbridge County, 1782 ~ these are claims provided to the county for
militia duty I believe. It is 24 pages and indexed. I've researched in
Augusta County so long I know most of the names by heart, and in looking
through this book I believe many of these people are related to those in
Augusta County 2nd and 3rd generations who are moving west because the
land is all used up in Augusta? One of the names I've run across several
times is Archibald Reacock. Are you familiar with this spelling, Ed? I
think it is the spelling Reaugh or one similar. The Archibald is so
prominent in the Rhea family, it seems like this fits.In one entry he
provided 15 days wagon hire, 4 days storage, 45 rations at 8 pounds, 10
shillings. For what its worth!
