I found this on Ancestry Message boards, and the only reason I am posting it
is that There is a L. Rhea Taylor who wrote a book about Taylor's. But
interest to me was the L. Rhea Taylor, who was the author of a book. Read on
Remember many people named their children after someone they highly
respected, such as Pres. Zachary Taylor.

Message: Moses Taylor b.1729 married Elizbeth Prevatt, descendents in
Butler County, KY. I am posting the following as appears on LDS Records for
your thoughts on the matter:
L. RHEA TAYLOR, in his book about Moses & Elizabeth Prevatt Taylor flatly
stated "I do not know who Moses Taylor's parents were"
This is interesting as someone, in 1994, submitted data to Latter Day Saints
that Moses was son of 1692 English Immigrant to New Jersey, Edward Taylor Jr
as follows:
Family History Library Catologue 18 Sept. 1994

Call Number US/Can Film Area 1036564 Item 3
AUTHOR Taylor, L. Rhea
TITLE Pioneers-Moses Taylor & Elizabeth Prevatt Sr of Kentucky & North
Carolina
Publication Information:Salt Lake City : Filmed by the Genealogical Society
of Utah 1977
FORMAT on 1 microfilm reel; 35mm
NOTES Microfilm made of transcript (67) leaves prepared in 1966 (?) by L Rhea
Taylor Sr.
CONTENTS: Moses Taylor Sr. 1729-1819)-- son of 1692 English Immigrant to New
Jersey, Edward Taylor Jr. (b 1678) -- married Elizabeth Prevatt in 1764 at
New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina, and later moved to Warren County,
Kentucky. Descendents and relatives lived in North Carolina, Kentucky,
Virginia & Elswhere.
Includes Bohannon, Boyce, Cassidy, Howard, Kington, Talbutt & related
families
In 1918, Ed Taylor wrote "Something about the Taylor Family"
he also wrote that Moses was descendent of Ed Taylor & refers to Moses & his
brother, Zacharyb.1709, Grandfather of the Us Pres Zachary Taylor. this must
be in error as Zachary Taylor b1709 was child of James III Taylor & Alice
Widow Catlett Thornton, not Ed Taylor.
In LOG CABINS TO THE WHITE HOUSE Moses Taylor is said to be the son Of John
Taylor & Mary Burnbury
Manley, Genealogist states that Moses Is son of James III Taylor & Alice
widow Catlett Thornton
Others identify Robert Taylor & Catherine as parents of Moses Taylor
There are at least 5 published documents giving different parents of Moses
Taylor
THERE REMAINS NO PROOF AS TO PARENTS OF MOSES TAYLOR....
**The only proven connection to the Taylors of Virginia is
Mooreman Taylor(son of Zachary b.1739 Goochland Va) daughter Charity who
married Wilford Embry
your thoughts?

Message:
I have copies of the info by David White...it was said he had valuable info,
but NEVER defined same.....there are no wills by the Abraham Taylors either
of Maryland or NC naming Moses Taylor as a son..it was said that a record
showing a Moses Taylor b. 1730 was found in Raleigh, NC, however, this record
has NEVER been reproduced for anybody & it did NOT name the father...one
would think that such a determination of parentage would be made available
for all us descendants if it in fact, existed...the determination made was
simply an assumption based on an unknown record that may have conveniently
fit into a similar time period.
I also have data published in "From Log Cabins to the White House" that gives
Richard Taylor as the father.....
There is published "Something about the Taylors by Ed T. Taylor that named Ed
Taylor of New Jersey as the father...this info was given to LDS & named the
book by L Rhea Taylor as proof, though the L Rhea Taylor book clearly stated
"it is NOT known who the parents of Moses Taylor are"
The work By Manley give James Taylor & Alice Thornton as the parents.....
Zacharia Taylor who married Alice Chew seems to be the son of Zachary Taylor &
Esther Blackburn as his age does NOT fit as the child of Zachary Taylor &
Elizabeth Lee
There is an Lds record showing Moses Taylor as child of one Abrim of Johnston
Co. NC & a 1790 Onslow co. census showing Moses Taylor as head of
household.......There is a will by Abrim Taylor made in Johnston Co. in 1751
There are Beasleys & Prevatts in Onslow?Johnston co. in fact, Peter II
Prevatte died there in 1751 & is an accepted French Huguenot.....
There ARE VA Taylors associated with the Butler Co. lines...
They are descended from William & John who emigrated from England to their
descendant, Moorman to Charity who married Wilford Embry along these lines we
find banks, holsclaws, snodgrass, rones, et al.
Battle Perrin & Kniffen have identified several along these lines & named
them as cousins, etc to Gen. Zachary Taylor of Virginia.....
