The Moses Ray in the Civil War from Marengo, IA could very well be the same
Moses. I did not have this information and will check it out.

You have the correct Hiram and Moses from the 1850 Mason Co., IL census.
Hiram married Ludica Carpenter in 1850 after the death of his first wife,
Melinda Marshall. David Ray married Nancy Jane Carpenter in 1848 after the
death of his first wife, Sarah Morton. The Carpenters are from Overton, TN,
but have found no Ray/Rhea link there as yet.
