Subject: [RHEA] Rhea and Looney property

Speaking of Rheas and Looneys, perhaps you would be interested to know that I
met with the TN State Historical Commission last week in Nashville. I
reviewed our plans for reconstruction of the Fain-Taylor house in Blountville
TN. They found the house to qualify as a historic structure (that was pretty
obvious being one of the first structures in the County seat built in 1798)
and have approved the plans for refurbishing and adding-on to the structure.
The plans now go to the National Park service for final approval. If we get
that approval in time, we will begin excavation of the site in the spring and
re-construction sometime this summer.
The property was first deeded by NC to James Brigham, husband of Lucy Looney,
daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Looney, and sister of Robert Looney Jr. who
married Margaret Rhea, sister of Rev. Joseph Rhea. The log house was later
owned by Abraham Looney (b. 1780), Nicholas Fain, husband of Elizabeth Rhea
(b. 1789) daughter of Joseph C. Rhea and ancestor of two TN governors, and
Joseph S. Rhea (b.1812) among others.
