BLUFF CITY -- K. Dwight Rhea, 56, of 4271 Rockhold Road, Bluff City, went to
be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Wellmont Hospice House.He was
a son of Mrs. Willene Rhea-Diegel and the late Kenneth D. Rhea Sr. of Bluff
City. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a baby sister, Nina
Margaret Rhea. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bluff City and
retired from Raytheon Corp., Bristol, Tenn.Mr. Rhea was a U.S. Air Force
veteran stationed at the 90th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Bien Hoa Air Base,
Republic of Vietnam. Staff Sgt. Rhea distinguished himself by receiving the
Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious services in Vietnam in 1967, and
also received a Certification of Achievement as crew chief on F-100
Aircraft.Survivors, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 33 years,
Shirley A. Rhea of the home; one brother and sister-in-law, David T. and Dyan
Rhea of Richland, Wash.; three uncles, Gordon Earl Rhea Sr., J. Forrest
Thomas and Robert M. Thomas, all of Bluff City; one aunt, Ms. Daphne Rhea of
Kerhonkson, N.Y.; several cousins, and a special friend, R.C. Sykes of
Kingsport.Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Shelby
Hills Cemetery, Bristol, Tenn. Those who wish to attend the graveside are
requested to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to travel in procession to
the cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Danne Tester, Charles Thomas, Gordon E.
Rhea Jr., Danny Martin, Howard Cross, and Al Hall. Honorary pallbearers will
be: Dr. Sue Prill and staff, Dr. Alan Carnell and the physicians and staff of
Bristol Anesthesia Services, P.C.The family will receive friends at the
residence, 4271 Rockhold Road, or the residence of his mother, 4313 Rockhold
Road, Bluff City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
the First Baptist Church of Bluff City, P.O. Box 130, Bluff City, Tenn.
37618, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Helen Wilson, 209 S. Riverside
Drive, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643. Condolences to the family may be sent to
Funeral Home-Bluff City is in charge of
arrangements.
