Passenger List of the Steamer General Lyon when it burned to the waterline off Cape Hataras, NC 31 Mar 1865. Not to be mistaken with the USS General Lyon.
Passengers were discharged soldiers, paroled prisoners of war from Florence Stockade, SC and Salisbury Prison, NC, and refugees; including 30 women and 25 small children.
Out of 600 Passengers and crew only 31 confirmed survivors..
