In 1806, Archibald Rhea and "his mother," Jean Rhea of Rockbridge County sold property that Archibald and Jean owned in Amherst County (Rockbridge Co., VA Deed Book K, 507-507*). If she was, in fact, his step-mother, I doubt that the distinction would have been made on the deed. Both were executors of Archibald's estate.
#204 U. S. Census, 1850, Preble Co., OH. used to determine the approximate birth datesof the children of John and Nancy (Rhea) Gray.
#205 History of Preble County, Ohio, (Cleveland, OH: H. Z. Williams & Bro., 1881), 164. A brief sketch of the James and Mary (Gray) Rhea family is found on p. 165.
