#157 Augusta Co., VA Will Book9,8-9.* Will of John Lockridge, husband of
Ann Rhea, daughter of William and Elizabeth (Clark) Rhea of Augusta and Bath
Counties, Virginia. Dated Dec. 4, 1798, proved June 24, 1799. Signed
"Lockridge" but spelled "Louchridge" throughout the text. He named his wife,
Anna; sons, Andrew, William, John, and James; daughters, Betsy, Sarah, and
Anna. After Anna's death, his land to be divided among his eldest sons,
Andrew, William, and John. The tract went to Andrew was purchased in 1821 by
Robert Rhea, then living in Hopkins, County, Kentucky, and presumed to be
the son of Ann's brother, Robert. After Robert's marriage, he sold the land
to John Lockridge in 1830 [ref.171]. John Lockridge Sr. was the son of
Andrew Lockridge who died in 1791(Augusta Co., VA Will Book 7, 353).

A second parcel of 200 acres also straddling Sugar Creek was granted
Alexander Rhea by the Henderson County, Kentucky April Court, 1801, "...on
account of settling the same in conformity to an act of Assembly entitled an
act for settling & improving the vacant lands of the Commonwealth..."
