Marriages in Rockingham County from 1795 to 1825
The following lists have been compiled from records in the county clerk's
office at Harrisonburg.
On pages 444-448 of Wayland's History of Rockinham County is a list of
marriages from 1778 to 1794. The lists below are a continuation.

At a business meeting the last Sayurday in May , 1768 , Thomas Porter was
appointed to warn John RAY to appear before the church to give satisfaction
for some offences; Mr. John Alderson to warn John North to appear; and
likewise James Thomas to warn John Tomas to appear at the meeting house on
Smith Creek the last Saturday in June next.
'' Met according to Appointment the last Saturday in June 1768, and the
Church went upon Business within her own Body , and John RAY was censured in
the highest Degree next to excommunication, for certain Offences committed,
and suspended from Communion with the Church untill Reformation and
Repentance, by him had; and then appointed to meet at Linvils Creek the
first
Saturday in August next'' (1768)
In 1772 were baptized Susannah RAY wife of John RAY

August 6, 1774, This Day met together the Members of our Church, living on
Smiths Creek , in Order to examin into an Affair between Jno Conner &
Susannah RAY, the wife of Jno. RAY
John Alderson, Jr. and Hannah Harrison were appointed to examine the persons
named.
