...Your orator further showeth unto your honor, Elizabeth Rhea is the widow &
relict of the said William who lives on the said plantation; and that the
said William left issue Alexander Rhea, Nancy now married to Joseph Ritchey,
Elizabeth Rhea now married to Robert Rhea, James Rhea, Thomas Rhea, Margret
Rhea, Hannah Rhea, Polly Rhea, Martha Rhea & John Rhea, which ------, Nancy,
Elizabeth, James, Thomas, Margret, Hannah. Polly, Martha & John are the
children of James Rhea decd, who was the son of the aforesaid William Rhea
and who now reside out of this Commonwealth, and also Hugh Rhea a child of
Archibald Rhea, one of the sons of the aforesaid William Rhea, and who also
resides out of this Commonwealth, and Robert Rhea, and Ann Lockridge &
William Rhea, children of the aforesaid William Rhea, Sr., and John Rhea,
another son of Archibald afsd. which Robert Ann William & John live in this
Commonwealth who are residents of this Commonwealth all and every (of?) which
heirs of the said William Rhea and the husbands of such of the females as
married tour orator prays may be made Deft's to this Bill. Your orator
further showeth unto your honor, that the Deft's, notwithstanding that they
are well acquainted with the justice of your orator's claim...yet they refuse
to execute proper & sufficient deeds of conveyance unto your orator, for the
several lands aforesaid or to surrender up unto your orator the slave Tom
aforesaid but absolutely refuse the same...(That) the said Deft's be
advised(?) to convey unto their & each of their interest titles in & to the
lands aforesaid, unto your orator in feesimple, subject to the dower of the
said widow, if such right she hath, and that the slave Tom, may be(?) unto
your orator, with his heirs from the death of the said William Rhea, and that
your orator may have such other& further relief as to this court shall
summon...(signed) Jno Rhea."

On March 22, 1805, the Virginia heirs signed a deed relinquishing their
interest in the land. It was signed by Robert Rhea, William's son, Ann
Lockridge, his daughter, and John Rhea, son of William's son, Archibald,
deceased. It was witnessed by Thomas Rhea and William Rhea(Jr.), See BATH CO,
VA DEED BOOK 3, 59-60.*
