58. Augusta Co., VA Will Book 6,4-5.* Will of James Clark, father-in-law
of William Reah/Reagh. Dated August 20, 1774, proved March 17, 1778. Named
daughters, Jean, Elisabeth Regh, Sarah, Ane Dunlap, Marget, and sons, John,
James, William's heirs, Alexander, Samuel, and Robert. Wife, Elizabeth, and
William Regh, executors, Signed "his mark." Names are spelled as in the
will.

Ibid.208-209.* Will of Elizabeth Clark, mother-in-law of William
Reah/Reagh. Dated October 8, 1781, proved November 20, 1781. Named
daughters, Jean Elliot's heirs, Elizabeth Reaoh ("one striped wested gown
and one sermon book called guthroy"). Sara Elliot, Ane Dounlap, Magreat
Clinkaid, and sons, John, James, Alexander and his wife, Samuel, William's
heirs, and Robert, Son, Robert "Clarch" and William Reaoh, executors. Signed
"her mark."

59. Augusta Co., VA Deed Book I, 83-84.*Dated May 14, 1746. James Clark,
wheelwright, purchased 380 acres on Back Creek, at the headwaters of Middle
River, in the Beverly Manor grant. Another parcel containing 436 acres was
purchased in April, 1755 (Augusta Co., VA Deed Book 7, 93).*

In Thomas Nathan Clark's Before Amanda, (Burlington, NC: T. N. Clark,
1986),* James Clark's date of birth is given as 1704, and Elizabeth's maiden
name, about there is some uncertainty, as Summers.

60. Bath Co., VA Will Book I, 214-215.* Will of William
Reah/Reagh/Reach/Rhea, brother to Archibald and Robert. Dated January 3,
1801, proved June 1802. He named his wife, Elizabeth, Hugh and John Reach,
sons of his son, Archibald, deceased, the children of son, James Reach,
deceased, sons, John, Robert, Alexander, and William Reach, and daughter,
Ann Lockridge. Son, Robert, executor. Signed "William Rhea." Witnesses
included Anne and John Dunlap, Elizabeth's sister and brother-in-law, as
well as Henry Dill, John's father-in-law. The author has copies of the
original will and other probate papers.

61. Bath Co., VA Will Book I, 306-308.* Will of Elizabeth (Clark)
Reah/Reagh/Reach/Rhea, William's wife. Dated November 20, 1804, proved
December, 1804. Named sons, William, Robert, Alexander, and John Rhea,
daughter, Ann Laughrage, grandchildren, Robert, son of William, and the
children of Archibald and james Rhea "who is dead." James Kelso and John
Rhea, executors. Signed "Elizabeth (her mark) Rhea." The author has copies
of the inventory and appraisment of her estate.
