33. Short, A., 3:106.
34. Ibid., 19 or 34.
35. Ibid., 108.
36. Ibid., 125.
37. Washington Co., VA Guardian Book, 1.* William Gleave (also Glave,
Glave) chosen guardian by Elizabeth REAUGH, daughter of Robert Reaugh,
deceased. The bond was dated March 21, 1780.
In 1783, William "Gleaves" and Archibald Rhea, Elizabeth's brother,
were lieutenants(Kegley, MaryB.,2:218-219*). In 1789 and 1793, he was living
on Cripple Creek near the homestead purchased by Elizabeth's father in
1775-1776(Schreiner-Yantis, Netti,Montgomery County, Virginia-Circa
1790,81*).
38. Daughters of The American Revolution. Lineage Book 154, 156, #153526.*
39. Chalkley, Lyman, Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in
Virginia, Extracted From The Original Court Records of Augusta County,
1745-1800, (Rosslyn,VA: Mary S. Lockwood, Pub., 1912).1:397.* Office
Judgements, May, 1792, NtoZ. "Thomas Turk, Jr., vs. Thomas Turk Sr. - Son
vs. Father. Chancery...In 1772 Thomas, Sr. deeded land to Thomas, Jr.,
condition, love and affection. Thomas, Jr., married Anne Rhea. Thomas was
seventeen years old in 1772."
40. Bath Co., VA Will Book 2, 48-49.* Thomas Turk Sr., Deed of Gift, dated
may 25, 1802. His will was proved July 24, 1809, Augusta Co., VA Will Book
10, 306-307.
41. Vogt, J.,&Kethley,T.Wm., Augusta County Marriages, 1748-1850, (Athens,
GA: Iberian Pub. Co., 19--), 363.* Marriage of Elizabeth Rhea, daughter of
Robert Reah/Reagh/Reaugh, to Martin Luther Coyner, April 20, 1792.
Archibald Rhea and Ann Humphreys were married October 26, 1798
(p.172,see also Ref.192).
42. Chalkley,3:422.* Archibald witnessed a deed on March 19, 1765. On
August 20, 1765, he appraised an estate (Ibid.,3:90*).
If there were two Archibalds in Augusta County, father and son
[Ref.3], and the senior Archibald was still living in 1765, then he may have
been the Archibald of these references, and his son, Archibald Jr., the
brother of William and Robert, the "Uncle Archibald Rhea" living then near
Raleigh, and in whose home Elizabeth was reportedly born in 1765 (Ref.12,
see also 22]. If Archibald Sr. was the one living in North Carolina, he
would have been an uncle (great) only if Robert was a cousin rather than a
brother to William and Archibald. Also, if a cousin, Robert could have had a
brother named Archibald. Throughout this article, we have assumed, and still
believe, that Robert was their brother, but we have no documented proof(see
SUMMARY at the end of the References). _
