Hello Cathy, Thank you for writing. I have RAY in Daviess County this same
time period..maybe cousins or something?
1860 Daviess County, Missouri Census Roll#476 Jefferson Township
RAY, William E. 40 VA.
, Elizabeth A. 35 (KEFAUVER) VA.
, Emily, 14 VA.
, America Virginia 12 VA.
, Taylor"Addison" 11 VA.
, Theodocia "Docia" 6 VA.
, Belle 2 MO.
My ggGrandmother isn't listed in this one as she married this year and is
listed with her husband's family.
Her name was Sarah A. (RAY) MALLORY and she was 17 in this Census and born
in Roanoke Co., Va.

Does anything sound like it might match? Thanks, Marie

Tuggle,

Are you Ray's related to Elizabeth (Hanks) Ray. She was married to Reason
Ray. Their children were Minnerva, John, Elizabeth, Reason, and Celia Ray.
She married Samual Dillon after Reason Ray died. Her daughter Minnerva
married Alfred Dillon. Their daughter Ara Anna married Joshua Palmer.
Joshua and Ara Anna are in the 1870 Census in Lincoln Twp, Davis Co,
Missiouri. Joshua and Ara Anna Palmer are also in the 1900 Census for Lyon
Twp, Decatur Co, Kansas.

Dear Eleanor, Thank you for printing these interesting articles. That
is
a #%#@ shame that people can't leave the dead to rest and show a little
respect. I sure hope that you will keep us posted on plans, etc. for
clean-up. As I had family throughout this area it effects me on a
personal
note also. I spent a couple of hours at my FHC yesterday looking thru
the
microfilm of the Centennial Edition 1837-1937 and feel like I know so
many
of these families. Can you have the BURGE reunion photo added to the
Daviess County site? I would sure like to take a look at it.!!

Stan Brookshire, are you aware that there is a photo of John Sabastian
BROOKSHIRE-Postmaster of Lock Springs, Daviess Co. and also of his wife,
Julia Yeager Brookshire? If you like I would be glad to make copies of
them
on my next visit.

I am related to the RAY family (the Ray home is now a bed and breakfast
in
Gallatin) and found that although Anderson Taylor RAY and his wife,
Olive
Jane WEISER never had children, they took under their wing their neice,
Mrs.
F. S. TUGGLE. Does anyone know her maiden name? Her first name may
have
been Victoria as she is mentioned along with Mrs. A. M. DOCKERY. I
mention these surnames as they married into my MALLORY and RAY families,
as
did CREEKMORE, HENDERSON, MANRING and so many more.

>From reading this edition I've found a possible link as to how my
family
wound up in Lyon County, Kansas from Daviess County..some of them
anyway.
>From 2 excepts:
C. W. HENDERSON, J. H. MALLORY, and N. B. BROWN have each made large
shipments of stock to St. Louis and Chicago this week.
In the past three or four weeks, Joe Mallory of Emporia, (I believe
Joseph,
brother to my Laban Washington MALLORY, prominent cattleman of Lyon
County
whom died in 1932-from his obituary, may have helped him) N. B. BROWN of
Salem and W. T. POGUE of Grand River have shipped to Chicago and St.
Louis
market $21,600 worth of livestock. These gentlemen scatter considerable
money through the country.

Does anyone have a photo of any of the persons named? I was hoping to
find
one of my Mallory family..knowing that Father, Granville H. MALLORY was
constable at one time as well as his son, Joseph.
There is one of E. W. MANRING, Joseph H. married Matilda MANRING. They
had
3 daughters, Roxie, married J. L. EDWARDS, Maude married Mr. JOHNS, and
Leona married Artie SMITH.

And finally there was a sideline stating: Wm. LINEBARGER (cousins to my
ETHINGTON family) and Andy LOGAN staged a footrace at Winston Friday.
LOGAN
was too swift for his competitor.
Is anyone researching the LINEBARGER surname?

Thanks, Marie LC

Subject: [MODAVIES] Burge reunion

>From the "North Missourian" May 2, 2001.

The Burge family reunion was held April 28, 2001 - the Burge family of
Winston. Has a picture of everyone there, only identifying the 4 people
on
the front row. No written article about the reunion.

That's all,
Eleanor Bassett
