Subject: Re: [VTRUTLAN] Samuel OWEN

Hi Nancy, I believe Samuel Owen's wife was Phebe, dau of Ruth and Lemuel
Pratt. She was the eldest born 4 June 1758 at Haddam,CT. Her siblings were
Lemuel Jr, John, Ruth and Abner. Note the names of the children Phebe and
Abner. Samuel's dau wf of Russell Gillett is buried in the Stark Cem at
Delaware Co (Porter?) Ohio died 23 Feb 1843 ae 48 yrs. Her brother Warren
of Poultney md Rachel Ray of Tinmouth 28 March 1816. Samuel Owen had 2
children die at Tin. 16 Feb 1805 and 21 Dec 1808 ae 2 yrs. The Rays and
Gilletts were related and were near neighbors to the Pratts and Owens. I
wrote up the Pratt family for the fall issue 2000 of the Tin His Soc. It is
too long to print, but if you want a copy of the Quarterly send $4 to Town
Clerk at Tin. The Pratt's came to Tin. Nov 1781. Suspect Samuel had other
children. Do you know his parentage? I suspect he had a sister Lydia that
md early to Timothy Smith at Tin. If Joseph was his brother he was b. 12
April 1759, md Susanna Newell at T. 1 March 1787. He beat her and they
separated and in 1827 she went to Ohio to live with her children. Joseph d.
at Poultney 25 Feb 1827. He was a Rev soldier, enlisted at Brookfield, MA,
received a pension and his wife applied 1841 at Lake Co. Ohio and d. 1848.
Pens. Cert. # W4045 in case you want it. There was also a Jonathan Owen who
applied for a pension at Ira aged 58 in 1818...served from MA and RI.
#S43763. Hope this helps. Dawn
