You mentioned my John S. Rhea, son of Riley B. and Susan W. (Humphreys)
Rhea. This will identify this John S. Rhea for you and the other
subscribers, and place him in the proper family line.

This John S. Rhea's father, Riley B., was the son of Jesse Rhea and Margaret
Blair who lived in Blount Co., TN, then in Monroe Co., TN. Riley B. Rhea
left TN for Oregon on 19 Sep 1853, where he joined his brother Lewis Rhea
(who had married Mary Eliza Humphreys in Monroe Co., TN. Riley B. Rhea
otained an Oregon Settlee Claim in March 1854. He married Susan Humphreys.
Susan and Mary Eliza were daughters of Thomas Melvin Humphreys and Jane
Harrison. The
Humphreys family had moved from Monroe Co., TN to Oregon earlier.

John S. Rhea was was born in Oregon, prob. Linn Co. Unfortunately I don't
have his birth date. His siblings were Alice Isobel b. abt 1860; Viola C.,
b. abt
1861; Belle; Joseph M.; Thomas M. b. 1 Aug 1862; William M. b. abt 1864;
Mae; Sadie; Benjamin Lewis; and Riley B. Rhea, Jr.

Hope this helps eliminate at least one John S. from the fray!
