Hello Ed.
I am at my witts end, trying to find info:on
Family of my 3rd/Grandfather(SINGLETON RHEA)
born Abt:1800 either in E.TN or GA.I know he was in Monroe Co,TN when the
land was laid of for the seat of justice. He was there also
on tax list 1826 as RHEA.1830 Monroe Co,census of 1830 as RAY.Can't find him
anywhere in 1840.But 1850 censes of Cherokee
county, was there as Singleton RHEA with wife Mary(HENRY,(m)1823 somewhere in
NC according to the IGI file)my G-Grandfather Samuel M.Rhea born 1836 and
Hiram R.T.RHEA born 1838
in NC.Samuel was in the Confederate Army of Northern,VA 1861-1862 Gilmer
Co,GA married
Tercy Malinda CHAMBERS in Fannin Co,GA(Blue
Ridge have their Marriage License.I can't find any thing more on Hiram
R.T.Singleton &
Mary Henry RHEA had Pleasant M.G.RHEA born 1824,He was in the Mexican war
1847-48.and
2 Daughters Sarah born 1828 Monroe Co,TN also
Rachel Ann Dorcus Rhea born there in 1830,she
married Andrew Taylor KEPHART and they raised
their children on Owl Creek in Cherokee Co,NC.The names of their children and
some of
Pleasant M.G.Rhea's children carry the names of Singleton,Robert,Samuel and
Turk.I have all the Descendants of these families if they
mean anything. But in my many, many years of researchI can't find Parents,or
sibblings of Singleton Rhea.My Dad will be 93 in Oct,and I
would love to give him the other Generation.
He is really interested in his Ancestry, especially since I got my Mothers
back to 1200.She died in 1995 knowing her
Heritage.Pleasant was a corner and Singleton had something to do with
suryvaing it seems.
Not sure about this but his signeature is in so many places in TN and
NC.Especially School District # 9 in Cherokee Co,NC when that Co,opened
up.Thanks to you or anyone on the list that can give me more information and
paths to pursue.
June Rhea Johnson
