Description:
Establishing an important family relationship, marriage records can be
among the most informative type of records available to family historians.
This database is a collection of marriage records from six counties in
Texas in the latter half of the nineteenth century. This update now adds
marriage records from Denton County, to the counties of Comanche, Frio,
Hunt, Kendall, Rains, and Somervell. Taken from microfilm copies of
original county documents, each record provides spouses' names, marriage
date, and county of residence. It contains the names of over 38,200 men and
women. For researchers of early Texas ancestors, this collection can be
helpful and informative.
Extended Description:
Denton County records span 1865-1900. The county is located in the
northeastern part of the state. It was formed in 1846 from Fannin County.
The county seat is also named Denton.

Kendall County records span 1862 to 1900. The county is located immediately
north of San Antonio in central Texas. It was formed in 1862 from Blanco
and Kerr Counties. Boerne is the county seat.

Comanche County records span 1856-1900.

Frio County records span 1871 to 1900. It was home to about 4200 people in
1900 and is located just north of Laredo.

Hunt County records span 1851 to 1900. It is located about twenty-five
miles northeast of Dallas.

Rains County Records span 1879-1900.

Somervell County records span 1885 to 1900. It is one of the smallest
counties in Texas and is located along the Brazos River about twenty-five
miles southwest of Fort Worth. The county was created in 1875 from Hood
County. Glen Rose is the county seat.
