I have ordered birth and death records from Tennessee but it's been some
time ago. I'm not sure that I remember how I got them. Birth records
for a living person is hard to come by as they haven't been archived. I
am presuming that your mother is deceased and maybe in that case you
could order her birth record, particularly since you are one of her
children. I think it's something like the Bureau of Vital Statistics or
something; however, it's a different address for older records. Maybe
you should try the web site for Tennessee Bureau of Statistics and see
what is there. I'm not sure when Tennessee started requiring birth
registrations either. My mother was born in 1919 in Kansas and I think
she has a delayed birth certificate for Social Security, etc., purposes.
