Hi,
I've been looking for you or someone like you who is interested in the Rheas and
Brazells. John Rhea/Rea/Rae/Ray did have a daughter who married a Brazell but
her name was Mary. I thought that Elias Brazell married Pherby and that Pherby's
surname was Hudson. Possibly Pherby was a first cousin of Elias Brazell and
could have been a daughter of Pherby Rhea and Ezekiel Hudson. Pherby Rhea who
married Ezekiel Hudson was also a daughter of John Ray/Rhea/Rea/Rae. There is
another possibility here also. Perhaps since Mary Ray Brazeal died in 1811 that
her husband (and I don't know his given name) could have married Mary's sister
Pherby (if Pherby had been widowed by that time) as her second husband and their
second marriage. I do have a marriage record for Pherby to Ezekiel Hudson from
Grainger Co., TN.
"In an e-mail from (Charla A. Marchione) about Grainger Co.,
TN., marriages, I found this: Ezekiel Hudson and Fareby Rhea, 3/3/1801, Moses
Rhea, bondsman."
Mary Brazeal who was the daughter of John Rae is buried in Warren Co., TN.,
according to Worth Ray's book, Tennessee Cousins.
"The markers read: John Rae died February 16, 1813, aged 74 years. Baptist
Preacher. Nancy Cooper (Prob. wife of James Cooper) daughter of J. M. Rae (Ray)
died Jun 1, 1843, aged 61 years. Mary Brazeal, daughter of J. M. Rae, died 1811,
aged 42 years. Isham Rae died in the 21st year of his age. No dates." (My
Note: Worth was in error about Nancy Rae Cooper. Her husband was George
Washington Cooper. Isham seems to have been a grandson or something but not a
son.)
Dicy (Ray) Perkins, wife of William G. Perkins and daughter of Aaron Ray and
granddaughter of John M. Rae, gives the names of her aunts in the Mormon Baptist
of the Dead records and lists:
