Don Rhea
Was searching thru a volume of 1903 Dallas Morning News Newspapers and ran
across this article. "At his home this morning occurred the death of Ambrose
Cowperwaite Fulton age 92, the man who issued the first call for help from
the United States to aid Texas in her war for independence. The historic
event occurred in New Orleans in 1835, shortly after Santa Anna issued his
proclamation for all Americans to leave Texas under pain of death.
The call was issued by Mr. Fulton through the Louisiana Bulletin, Putnam R.
RHEA, editor on Oct. 12 and an enthusiastic crowd gathered to hear Mr. Fulton
address them on Texas Independence"
