I have been searching for more than 20 years for the parents of Pleasant Vincent
Uriah (or Neri or Eli) Jackson Harrison Glenn Rhea born 1821, probably in Lincoln
Co., TN, married Mary Elizabeth Fannin(g) 24 Nov. 1845, Flat Creek, Bedford Co.,
TN.
He is probably not the son of John and Sally Rhea of Lincoln Co., TN. Their son
Pleasant Vincent Rhea was born circa 1803, married Fannie B. White, moved to
Washington Co., AR circa 1829 where he died circa 1864.
So far I have not been able to identify parents for PV Rhea born 1821. Today I
got the following from another descendant as PV's ancestry:
"HIS DAD WAS JOSEPH MCILWAINE RHEA MOM WAS FRANCIS JACKSON HER DAD NERI JACKSON
. HIS MOM ELIZABETH RHEA DAD ROBERT RHEA . HIS G. DAD REV JOSEPH RHEA
ELIZABETH
MCLIANE .G. G.GRAND PA MATTHEW RHEA JR. G. G. GRANDMOM ELIZABETH MCLAIN.
ROBERT'S
DAD MATTHEW RHEA 3RD UNKNOWN. GRAND PA MATTHEW RHEA 2ND. MATTHEW RHEA 2ND
AND JOSEPH RHEA WERE HALF BROTHERS. "
The only Joseph McIlwaine Rhea that I have been able to find is the son of
Matthew Rhea and Jane Preston. This Joseph McIlwaine Rhea had a son Samuel Myers
Rhea 18 October 1821 which probably precludes his being the father of my PV born
27 July 1821. This information is from Ed Foley's The Descendants of Rev. Joseph
Rhea.
If I read the supposed parentage of PV Rhea that I got off the internet today the
descent from Rev. Joseph Rhea goes like this:
Rev. Joseph Rhea m. Elizabeth McIlwaine, their daughter
Elizabeth Rhea m. Robert Rhea, their son
Joseph McIlwaine Rhea m. Francis Jackson their son
Pleasant Vincent Uriah (etc) Rhea m. Mary Elizabeth Fannin
Elizabeth and Robert Rhea did have a son Joseph, however he was apparently Joseph
R. Rhea born 1805 (probably too late to be the father of my PV) and married
Emmaline Alexander.
Does anyone know anything about this new line? Is there another Joseph McIlwaine
Rhea who could be the one in question? This is the first new lead in about 10-15
years, so I would appreciate any help I can get for this brick wall ancestor.
