I'm feeling really brave today having just returned from the LDS Library
and reviewing film 183,383, Mormon Records at Endowment House, Baptisms
for the Dead (1877 Index of Heirs), pages 75, 76, and 97.

I looked at the people that Dicy Ray Perkins, daughter of Aaron Ray and
Nancy Howell, and her husband, William Gant Perkins, son of Ute Perkins
and Sarah Gantt, baptisms and the relationships that they gave for these
people. I previously had a not very easy to read copy of this info and
mostly it was correct; however, there was an omission or so.

Anyway, having looked at this record, I think I have a fairly good
listing of the children of John Ray/Rae and Polly Bolon. Whether or not
this the John Ray of Baptist Minister of Warren Co., TN., I cannot say
with any certainty but it certainly appears that it is.

Here is how I see his children based on this record:

1. Aaron Ray, married Nancy Howell, father of Dicy Ray Perkins
2. Nancy Ray, married George Washington Cooper
3. Sally Ray, married a Beazley
4. Lucy Ray, married Levi Perkins
5. Betsey Ray, married Richard Christial
(In an e-mail about Grainger Co., TN., marriages, I found this:
Elizabeth Rhea to Richard Cristell on 2 Feb 1797. No bondsman.)
(Meigs Co., TN., Marriages, Rhea. RHEA, Elisabeth marr. CRISTOL,
Ritchard on 02-FEB-1797.) (Don't know which of these two records has the
correct location)

6. John Ray
7. William Ray
8. James Ray
9. Moses Ray
10. Phereby Ray, married Ezekiel Hudson
(In an e-mail from (Charla A. Marchione) about
Grainger Co., TN., marriages, I found this: Ezekiel Hudson and Fareby
Rhea, 3/3/1801, Moses Rhea, bondsman.)

11. Hannah Ray, seems to have been single
12. Mary Ray, married a Brazzal
13. Fanny Ray, married Uriah York

This record also gives an Isom Ray as a nephew and he is probably this
Isham Rae.

Warren County, Tennessee, Tennessee Cousins, pages 526-527. Thomas J.
Barnes of McMinnville, a few years ago, discovered an old Rae (Ray)
graveyard, not far from town, on which there were a few markers and about
ten or more graves. The markers read: John Rae died February 16, 1813,
aged 74 years. Baptist Preacher. Nancy Cooper (Prob. wife of James
Cooper) daughter of J. M. Rae (Ray) died Jun 1, 1843, aged 61 years.
Mary Brazeal, daughter of J. M. Rae, died 1811, aged 42 years. Isham Rae
died in the 21st year of his age. No dates. After John Rae died in
1813, Moses Ray was executor of the estate, on April 8, 1816. The
witnesses to his appointment(?) were Daniel Payne and Uriah York.

It has been suggested in the past that perhaps the following people were
also children of this John Rae/Ray, but I now find that doubtful.

Joseph M. Rhea
Robert P. Rhea
Looney Ray
Lewis Ray (I think Lewis is related somehow, don't think he is a son)
Pheobe Diane Rhea, b. 13 Apr 1790 (think she is too young to be a
daughter)

Will be happy to privately email anyone who wants it, a typed copy of
what I found.
