Hi Johnita:
This is a little "blip" of info to add to your Kefauver item: Madisonville
is in Monroe Co., TN. My father was born and reared there and his family
were good friends of the Kefauvers. We used to visit Charlotta "Miss
Lottie," Estes' aunt, at the beautiful old home where he grew up, and where
he is buried in the family cemetery.
Estes Kefauver's father was Cooke Kefauver.
(Dr.) Robert Fielding Cooke, whom you mentioned, was a large land owner in
Monroe County and, interestingly enough, he sold 587 acres to my
great-great-uncle, John A. Wright, around 1856. Part of that property
eventually was inherited by my grandparents, James Harvey Dixon and Mary Ann
Wright. James Harvey Dixon was a descendant of Jesse Rhea and Margaret
Blair of Monroe Co., TN ; Mary Ann (Wright) Dixon was a descendant of Robert
"Bobbie" Rhea, Jr., Revolutionary and War of 1812 soldier of Blount Co., TN.
John A. Wright's wife was Ann Secelia Cook, who was somehow related
to Dr. Robert F., to the best of my recollection. Ann's father was James
Cook (or Cooke) of Blount Co., TN. John A. and Ann Secelia Wright and three
of their adult children, a daughter-in-law, and a niece all died within a
three-week period during a typhoid epidemic in Monroe Co., TN in July-August
1861.
Sadly (to me), "progress" has come to the little city of Madisonville, and
much of the Kefauver farm property was sold recently to developers, leaving
only a small portion of the original land and the home intact. I believe
one of Estes' nephews lives there now.
This won't further anyone's genealogy research, but I continue to be amazed
at how inter-connected we all seem to be!
