I'm looking for my RAY family from Virginia, Roanoke County, I believe.
According to the 1850 Census they are listed in the 57th District. Can
someone tell me what that means? Also does anyone have any of these people
in their indexes or know anything about them. ?
This is from the 1857 Census 57th District roll#973
William E. Ray 30 M Farmer Va
Elizabeth A. Ray 23 F
Sarah A. Ray 7 (my GGGrandmother, married Granville Mallory)
Emily Ray 4
America V. Ray (married Henry Clay Kelso, Daviess County, Mo.)
Taylor M 1/12
Now there are other siblings but they may have been born after the RAY
family were moved to Missouri as in Sarah RAY-MALLORY obit it states that
she also had a sister Tennie C. Ray married SUEDKUM. One of the sisters
became Mrs Lee Jones of Julesburg, Colorado. There is also a S.A. Ray,
probably Samuel RAY, and Thomas V. RAY.
Anyone with information to share please contact me. Thank you very much,
Marie
*researching Mallory, Ray, Ethington and Etherington of Virginia.)
Granville's Father, George Mallory was born in Virginia but I don't know
where.
