I, too, would like to know more about this James Rea of Henry Co., VA.,
as I think he is the likely father of my John Rea/Rhea/Rae of Warren Co.,
TN.
I found one possibility for his father but this a long way from any kind
of proof:
6 Nov 1748. Amelia County, Virginia, Will Book 2X. pg 153. Will of John
Ray. Probated 28 Aug 1766. Heirs: Son, John Ray - 125 acres part of a
242 acre tract purchased from Joel Meador that part whereon John Ray now
lives to be laid off convenient to his plantation on Brumfields line as
agreeable to his plantation as can be (not interupting my dwelling place
whereon I now live; Son, James Ray - the remaining part of the same tract
and the part where on I now live; James and John Ray are not to distrub
nor interrupt wife Dorothy Ray from dwelling peaceably on my plantation
whereon I now live; Son, William Ray - 154 acres purchased of William
Eckols joining Meadors Line, Jurdens line, Davisons line and Seays
line; Son, James Ray - gun and carpendar tools; Wife, Dorothy Ray - all
my personal estate during widowhood and after her marriage or decease to
daughters, Mary Ray and Elizabeth Ray who are also to have a feather bed
with the furniture thereunto belonging; remainder to wife to dispose of
among my children as she thinks fit. Signed John Ray (his mark). Wits.,
Thomas Watkins, John Watkins, and William Hall.
