Dear Michelle,
There are several people on this list researching the Pleasant Vincent Uriah
Rhea that you are asking about, Pleasant Vincent Uriah Rhea, b. 1821 Lincoln
Co. TN, d. 1901 Hood Co. TX, was NOT the one who was son of John S. and Sally
Rhea of Lincoln Co. TN.
Their son, P.V., was b. Jun 1803 Lincoln Co. TN, d. 1864 Washington Co. AR,
Buried Rhea's Mill, Washington Co. AR in Old Rhea Cemetery. He is my
ancestor.
John and Sally Rhea had 8 children:
1- Altamira who married James Isom & lived in Lincoln Co. TN;
2- Pleasant Vincent married Fannie B. White abt 1823 in TN, moved to
Washington County Arkansas about 1830.
3- Frances Glenn Rhea, b. 1810/12, d. 1831 Lincoln Co. TN, married Henry
Smith 1827.
4- Mary M.B. "Polly" Rhea, b. 1813/14 TN, d. aft 1860, mar. Alfred Smith 1841
TN.
5- Wm. Bryson Rhea, b. 1814 TN, d. 1861 TN, mar. Nancy Whitaker 1832 TN.
6- Sally Ann Rhea, b. 1816 TN, d. 1859 TN, mar. Jacob Broyles abt 1835
Lincoln Co.TN.
7- Brice M.G. Rhea, b. 1818 TN, d. 1852 Lincoln Co. TN.
8- Susan M. Rhea, b. 1820 TN, d. 1853 TN, mar/1 Ambrose B. McLaughlin, mar/2
William Calvin Solomon.
I have more data on these, but since they aren't your line I gave you the
abbreviated form.
I really don't know much about your P.V. Rhea, except he married Mary
Elizabeth Fannin in 1845 in Bedford Co. TN. They had 12 children and he died
22 June 1901 in Hood Co. TX.
To answer your question, Yes John S. Rhea is a direct descendant of Matthew
"The Rebel" Campbell Rhea.
Wishing you the best of luck in your quest. I would also like to know his
ancestry. That is not such a common name and he must be related to my P.V.
Rhea somehow.
Kathryn
