At a recent Colonial Dames meeting I was given an article taken from the
Belfast News Ltr., dated Friday 10 June 1768.--

For the province of GEORGIA, This is to give notice that Matthew Rea of
Drumbo, and William Beatty of Belfast, will have a stout ship. Well manned and
victualled, to fail the first of September next for Savannah, which strikes
the boundary line between Georgia and South Carolina, diftant from Charleftown
about 140 miles. All such as chufe to take a paffage in faid ship fhall have
it free, only paying one Guinen dead Earneft for every paffenger. This is a
growing and flourifhing province where Induftry is simply rewarded. John Rea,
Efq: of Rea's Hall, from Ballynahinch, now in said province forty years, and
George Golphin, Efq:, of Silver Bluff, from Armagh, now in said province
twenty years, both Gentlemen of opulent Forttunes, will give all the
paffengers a kind Reception by furnifhing each family with Milch cows and
Horfes gratis, until such time as they can procure for themfelves such in
kind. Every head of a family will receive one hundred acres of Land and, and
every child fifty, free _____
10 Years, and for ever, the King's Quit Rent being only 2s.2d, per 100 acres.
As defent healthy families are defired, and will confent, a certain number of
such are only granted, to exceed 100 perfons. Therefore, all fuch as incline
to embrace this favourable Opportunity, which likely they will never have in
their power to _____. are defired to apply to the above Matthew Rea and
William Beatty, who will more particularly inform them in this matter.
Balfaft, 10th June 1758.

N.R. Matthew Rea intends being in Armagh, and will be found at the Houfe of
Mr. Golfin's Sifter, on Tuesday the 18th Instant, at Mr. Joseph Hall's in
Lurgan on the firft of July, at Mr. John Heyland's in Dramore , Saturday the
2d; and at Mr. John Pettygrew's in Ballynahinch, Thursday the 7th.

The lady that gave this info to me said that John Rea/Rhea lived at Silver
Bluff in Georgia, but did not mention if it was before this article or after.
I have been unable to locate this newspaper. Does anyonw know anything about
it's location?
