I am researching the Rays from Alabama...Conecuh and Escambia County.
>From what I can tell, they came from South Carolina, but I have been
unable to trace it to a county. I need to hear from anyone who is
researching Rays in Alabama, especially these counties. Some specific
names are Gideon Ray, b. in SC abt 1816. and died between 1850-1860
married to Susanah?. His son was Abselom Matthew Ray, aka Ab, Abner,
A.M. This is my great grandfather. His siblings were Mathew H. Ray,
Martha C. Ray, Ellen Ray, Thomas J. Ray, John D. Ray, James J. Ray. And
for some reason, a Thomas Nelson was listed as living in the household.
Abselom married Ola Ozelia Massey. Does any one recognize any of these
names? Any thing on Rays from Alabama will be helpful.
