Subject: Re: [RHEA-L] James Rea/Ray of Henry Co., VA & Wilkes Co., NC

The James Rea being discussed here, I presume to be the son of the James
Rea who died about 1789 in Henry Co., VA. Correct?
Here are a couple of other Rhea names listed in Henry Co., VA., who were
not mentioned in James' will so it is possible that there were others in
Henry county. I have had a lot of trouble working out this family also.
26 Jun 1793. Andrew Rhea. Henry Co., VA. 45 acres on the north east
side of his land on Mill Creek. Grants 23, 1790-91, pg 629.
26 Aug 1799. Henry County, VA., Wills/Estates Book 2, page 4. Inventory
of the estate of Benjamin Rea recorded. Appraisers: John Wash, Bery
Harrison, and Sanford Reamey.
I think that my John was probably also the son of this James Rea but he
seems to have spent some time in Patrick Co., VA., and then I don't know
where all he might have gone. The following is probably John's son,
Aaron, in the following record which I received from Pat Clemmons of
Texas:
>From Pat Clemmons, 20 Jan 1998. I have a copy of a page from a book on
Patrick Co., VA., that goes as follows: pg 53, Date - 9 Nov 1793.
Inquistion taken at the plantation of Shadrack Going before Edward Tatum
a Commissioner. The body of Nathan Going then and there lying dead. One
Robert Hall on Sat. 21 Sept. last on the plantation of Jacob Lawson
mortally wounded the said Going on the head with a weeding hoe and broken
the skull of Going, through the rage and passion of Robert Hall. Jurors:
Jonathan Hanby, Foreman, Obadiah Hudson, Isaac Pennington, Aaron Rea,
Harberd Smith, Warham Easley, William Easley, Thomas Collings, William
Collings, Anthony Collings, John Wilson and Richard Davidson.
Pat's Note: I don't remember whether I may had ever mailed you a copy of
above or not but it seems that the Aaron Rea just likely is John Rea's
son and father of Dicey Ray who is said to been born in Patrick Co., VA.
I couldn't help notice the name of Obadiah Hudson since there's a Hudson
among those church records - I think.
Note the reference to so many Collings and a Hudson surnames. These
continue to come up again and again in the family. Taking a few steps
backward, I wonder if the James, d. c1789, in Henry Co., VA., was not
connected to the following:
__ Jun 1748. Will Book 1, Amelia County, Virginia, Wills 1735-1761,
