You mentioned that one of the ancestral lines used the surname "Rea". Can you
share some information about that? I've been following this rootsweb
discussion group for a couple of months and have seen very little input about
REA. If it's not my line then there's little reason to continue subscribing,
right? Do we know how the various spellings evolved and if they came from the
same core name? Thanks in advance for your response.

Subject: [RHEA-L] Rhea Family Association

A query was sent to the Rhea-L about the Rhea Family Association. This is in
answer to it. Pat H.

Rhea Family Association, started as a family reunion for the Rhea's of Miami
Co. Ks. Most of these cousins, had not seen each other in over 40 years. Most
were in their 70's. My first cousin and I put together the reunion, and after
the great success that we had, we decided to put out a newsletter, of the
genealogy I had done, along with other items that are most generally included
in a newsletter.. We sent a copy to each family who had attended the reunion.
That first year we had about 75 people, attending the reunion. The newsletter
was $8.00 per year. and was sent out quarterly.

This past year we drafted by-laws and a constitution. We had volunteers for
officers, and found out by reunion time this year that it was in name only.

We Rhea's of Miami Co. Ks. are related to William, Archibald and Robert Rhea
of Augusta Co. Va. sons of Archibald Reagh, son of Matthew Campbell Reagh.

We now want to open this association to include all Rhea/Rea where ever you
live. We will also be asking members to vote for new officers, and to
recommend, members for these offices. We would also like to design a logo that
would reflect the many spellings that have evolved, to the Rhea spelling. Many
new ideas are in the works, as we branch out.

Suggestions from RFA members are always welcome.

Rhea Family Association is a non-profit, all volunteer, unincorporated
organization, dedicated to the genealogical and historical research of
Rhea Families. We include the surname Rea, as one of our ancestral
lines, used this spelling.
Our purposes are: To provide a organization whereby the membership can
share and exchange data. To produce a publication to report Rhea
research along with current news regarding members, prospects, and
others closely allied to the Rhea lines. To conduct a reunion of the
membership yearly. To provide a membership dues method to insure funds
for the printing and mailing of the periodical, and aquisition of
printed materials pertaining to the Rhea families.

Rhea Family Association is not affiliated with any genealogical or
research organization who charge fees for their material.
