Here's a Turk very early in some Delaware records:
Pages 186 & 187. Deed. 22 Nov 1736. From Robert Turk, of Sussex Co.,
DE., to John Conwell, yeoman of the same place. For 30 pounds 200 acres
of land. Land is situated in the fork of Cedar Creek. Land is on the
north side of the southernmost branch of Cedar Creek and on the west side
of the road above the bridge. Land was formerly taken up and surveyed to
David Smith and by David Smith and Sarah, his wife, conveyed to Robert
Turk. Robert Turk signs. Wits., William Crank(?), Stephen Green.
Statement follows: It is agreed by and between the parties to this deed
that if the within Robert Turk shall well & truly pay unto the within
John Conwell ye sum of thirty pounds currt lawfull money of America for
redemption of the within land and premises on or before the first day of
May 1737 that then ye sd deed shall be void otherwise ye James shall be
and remain perfect & absolite both in law and equity to the sd John
Conwill his heirs & assigns for ever In Witness whereof ye parties afsd
have hereunto set their hands and seal ye day of the date within
mentioned. No signatures. No witnesses. Ack. Feb Court 1736.
